SerpWatch billing is based on the usage of keyword checks, i.e.how many search engine indexes, devices, locations, etc. we must look up as well as the frequency at which we check your keywords.
SERP Depth is now also part of the usage calculation.
Since Google now limits results to 10 per page, deeper SERP requests require additional paginated calls.
For example:
- Depth 10 = 1 request
- Depth 20 = 2 requests
- Depth 50 = 5 requests
- Depth 100 = 10 requests
This means the deeper you choose to track rankings, the more Keyword Checks will be consumed.
Say, for example, you want to track 2 keywords – “rank tracker” and “serp checker”.
These two keywords can incur different costs for different users depending on the way their monthly checks are multiplied in the app.

The SERP depth option is available in step 2 of the project creation or edit process, under the Search Engine and Location settings.
By default, the SERP depth is set to 10. Keywords ranking beyond position 10 will appear in the results table as 100+.
The same logic applies to other depth settings. If you select a depth of 20, 30, 90, or 100, any keyword ranking lower than the selected depth will be displayed as 100+ in the results table.

Number of Projects
If the keyword is tracked in 1 project only, then it’s multiplied by 1, if it’s tracked in 2 projects, it’s multiplied by 2, and so on.
If, for example, you track 5 keywords, 3 of which are within 1 project and the other 2 are in 2 different projects, the usage of keyword checks will be calculated this way: (3 x 1) + (2 x 2) = 7

App Dashboard vs. App Agency vs. API
- Tracking in the app dash (if the keyword is found in the app dashboard, it is multiplied by 1; if it’s not in the app dashboard, it is multiplied by 0)
- The number of clients tracking the same keyword (e.g. if you have 5 clients tracking the keyword “rank tracker”, the keyword is multiplied by 5)
- Using the API (the keyword is multiplied by the number of times you use the keyword to make API requests)

Number of Search Engine Indexes
For each keyword you track, you can set up a different search engine + device combination.
SerpWatch can track keywords in Google, Bing, Yahoo, Yandex, and YouTube.
Google, Bing, and Yahoo have 2 indexes: desktop and mobile.
Yandex and YouTube have only 1 index.
This means that if you track the keyword “rank tracker” on Google for both desktop and mobile, this will be counted as 2 checks as we need to crawl 2 different search engine indexes.

Number of Country Locations
If you track the same keyword in two countries (for example, the US and UK) this means that keyword will cost you 2 keyword checks as these are 2 different indexes.
Number of Local Locations
In SerpWatch, you can track the same set of keywords in multiple locations. Each location is counted as a separate check.

For example, you could be checking the keyword “rank tracker” country-wide for Italy, but also for any number of specific local locations within Italy.
Country location (1 check):
- Italy
Local locations (2 checks):
- Rome (41.9028° N, 12.4964° E)
- Trastevere (41.8848° N, 12.4704° E)
All of these are separate checks, so in this case, the combined total of location checks for this keyword would be 3.
Keep in mind that you can track multiple locations in one project, but there has to be at least one location (either local or global).

Frequency of Checks & Monthly Frequency Multiplier
The frequency of checks has the biggest impact on the total monthly usage.

The monthly frequency multiplier depends on the frequency of checks you choose for the entire project:
- If you set the frequency to 2 hours, the multiplier will be 360 (12 checks per day x 30 days = 360 checks)
- if you set the frequency to 6 hours, the multiplier will be 120 (4 checks per day x 30 days = 120 checks)
- if you set the frequency to 12 hours, the multiplier will be 60 (2 checks per day x 30 days = 60 checks)
- If you set the frequency to daily, the multiplier will be 30 (1 check per day x 30 days = 30 checks)
- if you set the frequency to every 3 days, the multiplier will be 10 (1 check every 3 days for 30 days = 10 checks)
- if you set the frequency to weekly, the multiplier will be 4 (1 check per week for 30 days = 4 checks)
- if you set the frequency to monthly, the multiplier will be 1 (1 check per 30 days)
Monthly Usage (Total Number of Keyword Checks)
The above method is used to calculate the number of keyword checks for every keyword.
The total monthly usage is the combined number of keyword checks for all keywords you track.
