Follow the steps below to add a project and track keywords in SerpWatch.
- After you log into your SerpWatch account, scroll down to the Projects section and click the “ADD PROJECT” button on the right:
- Choose your project type – website or YouTube:
- Give your project a name:
- Enter a valid domain to track:
- Add the keywords you want to track (type them, copy/paste, or import via CSV):
- To discover more traffic-driving keywords, use the keyword suggestion feature:
- Add the competitors you want to track (you can also add the competitors later from the keyword level ranking chart):
- Select keyword check frequency and click “Next”:
- Set up your tracking location, search engine, and language (the shortlisted languages will differ based on the geolocation you select):
- To track keywords at the city, zip, or state level and connect your Google My Business Account, check “Track local results and GMB”.

- You can track your keywords in SerpWatch across multiple locations, search engines, and devices within one project. Simply click the “ADD A LOCATION & SEARCH ENGINE” button and set up another location + search engine + device combination.

- When you add more locations or change other tracking settings (e.g. add more competitors or increase keyword check frequency), the keyword checks usage calculator will adjust accordingly.

- Click “Next” to proceed:
- Set up rank change Notifications (email, Slack, Zapier) and/or enable push notifications:
- Click “ADVANCED NOTIFICATION SETTINGS” to customize Notification triggers:
One of the notifications you can set up here is Cannibalization detection. If enabled, SerpWatch will notify you whenever it detects two or more of your pages competing for the same keyword:
- You can also integrate SerpWatch with multiple Google Analytics and/or Google Search Console accounts (these settings can be changed later in the Edit Project setup):
- Click “CREATE PROJECT” to finish:
Congratulations! You have now created your first tracking project in SerpWatch and you can analyze your rank data from project and keyword levels.
